CHAIRMAN OF OGOJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL FROWNS AT CLASHES WITHIN MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN OGOJA.
The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Hon. Christopher Agbeh, has called for lasting peace in the area, stressing that the era of troublemaking is over. He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring peaceful coexistence at the local government, state, and national levels.
The Chairman expressed strong disapproval of the ongoing disagreements among Islamic groups in the area. He made this statement during a meeting with Muslim communities in his office, where he urged the groups to embrace peace or face the full force of the law.
Hon. Agbeh reiterated that service to humanity is service to God, who does not recognize any divisions.
He also urged the groups to comply with the directive from the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, which prohibits the use of uniforms to distinguish groups during Jumat prayers. He warned that any violation of this order would not be tolerated.
Hon. Agbeh instructed law enforcement agencies to ensure that all religious sects desist from using uniforms, describing the practice as distracting and an ineffective method of causing division among worshippers.
Earlier, the Two Deputy Imams of the Sects Mallam Khamisu and Mallam Gambo Adamu expressed their differences occasioned misrepresentation that have led to the misunderstanding against each other said, they were ready for peace.
