GOVERNOR OTU APPROVES FRESH APPOINTMENTS INTO CROSS RIVER SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION BOARD

Calabar, Nigeria — The Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the appointment of new members into the Cross River State Senior Secondary School Education Board, reinforcing his administration’s determination to revitalise the education sector in line with his “People First” development agenda.
In a statement issued in Calabar on Monday, 13 October 2025, and signed by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr Linus Obogo, the appointees are as follows:
1. Dr Tony Ngban – Chairman
2. Mr Patrick Ugugue – Member
3. Mrs Agube Ekwelle Ignatius – Member
4. Miss Asari Eso Archibong – Member
5. Mr Lawrence Oku – Secretary.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are designed to reposition the state’s Senior Secondary Education system for improved efficiency, accountability, and academic excellence.
Governor Otu, in the release, urged the newly appointed board members to uphold integrity, commitment, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He further tasked them with deploying their wealth of experience towards enhancing educational standards, teacher performance, and student outcomes across the state.
The Governor’s decision is part of a broader education reform strategy focusing on improved infrastructure, teacher motivation, curriculum enrichment, and institutional effectiveness.
With these appointments, Cross River State is poised for a new phase of transformation in its senior secondary education system, ensuring that students acquire the skills and knowledge needed to compete favourably at both national and global levels.
