PASSING OF CHIEF USHIE-AKRIGBE DAVID IDANG: A PILLAR OF COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AND FAITH.

It is with appreciation to God Almighty for a life well spent and profound respect that we announce the passing of Chief Ushie-Akrigbe David Idang, of Ejakpe-Ukwutia, Utugwang Community in Obudu Local Government Area- who departed this life on 31st May 2025, following a brief illness.

Chief Ushie-Akrigbe was a renowned community leader, a committed councillor, and a devout Catholic, who dedicated his life to the service of his people and the promotion of justice, discipline, and development. A man of unwavering principle, he was deeply respected for his integrity, wisdom, and commitment to the values that strengthen communities.

Widely acknowledged as a disciplinarian and a man of honour, Chief Idang left an indelible mark in both public service and spiritual leadership. His leadership style was characterised by empathy, courage, and an unyielding dedication to the well-being of his people.

He is survived by distinguished children, including Comrade (Pastor) John O. Ushie PhD., JP., State Chairman, Labour Party, Cross River State, one time Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) State Chairman and former National President of Nigerian Union of Printing-Publishing and Paper Products Workers (NUPPPPROW) other family members who continue to uphold his legacy of excellence, service, and faith.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course by the family.
