THANKSGIVING: OBANLIKU COUNCIL CHAIRMAN, HON. SUNNY AYANG RETURNS ALL GLORY TO GOD FOR HIS BENEVOLENCE.
The serene and temperate village of Buya in Bishiri community, yesterday witnessed a large turnout of dignitaries from within Obanliku and Cross River State.
The personalities that span from different facets of the society were in Assemblies of God Church Buya, Bishiri South at the instance of Hon. Chief ( Dr.) Sunny Ayang, JP, as he returned to God in Thanksgiving for life, election victory, and subsequent swearing-in as the Executive Chairman of Obanliku Local Government Area.
In a thanksgiving message that centered on gratitude and thanksgiving, Rev. Dr. Moses Odey dwelled on the essence of thanksgiving and maintained that irrespective of any situation, we should always be grateful to God as humans.
Testifying about God’s mercies and impact on his life and family, Hon. Sunny stated that it was a rigorous journey getting to the position he finds himself today. He appreciated God for using men of goodwill to perfect his position as the Executive Chairman of Obanliku.
With a grateful heart, he extended his words of gratitude to the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, the Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, and Chief Martins Orim for their separate roles and committed efforts towards ensuring he emerges as the Chairman of Obanliku. He acknowledged the miracles of God as an antidote that sustained and survived him, noting that ” I thank God who has made this day that we should rejoice and be glad, and we are indeed grateful”.
Speaking at the thanksgiving service, the representative of the Executive Governor and Chief of Staff to the governor of Cross River State, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, expressed his delight for being in church to honor Hon. Sunny Ayang, JP. He noted that they are here in their numbers following the governor’s directive that all ranks and files in the state should move to Obanliku to honor, support, and celebrate with Chief Sunny Ayang.
He acknowledged that “It is God that makes people; people don’t make themselves. ” He further thanked God for the life of Hon. Sunny Ayang, while donating sumptuously on behalf of the state executive council to support the Church building project.
The immediate past Chief of Staff to the former governor of Cross River State, Chief Martins Orim also gave his words, describing Hon. Sunny as a committed politician who has contributed to the growth of many and the development of Obanliku and Cross River State. He further made a financial commitment toward the ongoing church-building project.
Goodwill messages and support for the church were also received from other dignitaries that graced the thanksgiving service, including the Chairman of Yakurr local government council and Chairman of Chairmen forum, Hon. Yibala Inyang, High Chief Tony Undiandeye, Cross River State Commissioners, APC Chapter Chairmen from Obanliku, Obudu and Bekwara, and NYCN state chairman, Comr Emmanuel Olayi.
The ceremony, which was characterised by pomp and pageantry, came to its peak with the conferment of a chieftaincy title, “Peace Ambassador,” on Hon. Sunny Ayang by the representatives of Kwande local government area of Benue state, led by Hon. Azan. The National Youth Council of Nigeria, led by Comrade Olaye and comrade Prince Adie also made a presentation of a portrait, amongst others.
The ceremony was graced by distinguished figures from across the state, including the deputy speaker of the CRSHA, Hon. Sylvester Agabi, council chairmen of Obudu, Bekwarra, Yala, Ogoja, Odukpani, Akpabuyo, Boki, and Etung, Members representing Obanliku, Ogoja and Boki-1 in the CRSHA, Hon. Pius Ashakia, Hon. Engr. Thomas Aruku and Hon Bette Obi, Hon. Chief Sunday Achunekang, Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Justin Beshel, Commissioner for Special Duties, Oden Ewa, Hon. Alina Bridget, Special Adviser on General Duties to the governor, Barr. Akiba, Senior Special Adviser on Agriculture to the governor, Prof John Shiyam, State Economic Adviser, Prof. Peter Oti, CEO of Sanjis Hotel, Chief Francis Akeribo, Prof. Ogogo, Vice chairmen of councils from Obudu and Obanliku, Leaders of Obudu and Obanliku Legislative councils, APC Chapter chairmen, political appointees, royal and religious fathers, members of the press, amongst others.
