C’RIVER COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION PAYS UNSCHEDULED VISIT TO SCHOOLS IN CALABAR METROPOLIS.
Earlier today, Senator (Associate Prof.) Stephen Odey, Commissioner for Education, Cross River State, made an unscheduled visit to schools in Calabar metropolis.
At Government Secondary School, Federal Housing Ikot Ansa, Calabar, he was received by the school Principal Mr. Godwin Eki Agbor, and observed teaching and learning activities in progress. The Commissioner praised the school’s serene atmosphere and cleanliness, urging the staff and students to sustain this standard.
The Commissioner also inspected Immaculate Conception Primary School, meeting with the school Headteacher Mrs. Melpi Aqua Edem, and commending the school’s cleanliness and staff diligence.
While visiting classes, the Commissioner noted the conducive learning environment, but also identified shortage of teachers and noticed some dilapidated structures.
He directed the Directors to take note of these issues accordingly, he encouraged other school heads to follow the example set by these schools, as he intends to continue making unannounced visits to all schools across the 18 Local Government Areas.
