GOV OTU DEPUTY CHIEF PRESS SECRETARY, DARLINGTON EDEM MEETS DIGITAL JOURNALISTS TASK COLLEAGUES TO EMBRACE PROFESSIONALISM.

The Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor Bassey Otu, Comrade Darlington Edem met with a cross-section of Online Publishers on Thursday at Hotel 45, State Housing, Calabar, in an interactive session to drive home the Governor People First Agenda and charged his colleagues to embrace professionalism.

 

 

According to Comrade Darlington, the parley has become necessary firstly, to thank and appreciate the digital Journalists for their transformational reportage, secondly, to convey Governor Otu’s cardinal focus of his People First Agenda, and thirdly to task his immediate constituent on professionalism to always fact check their stories as it concerns any news piece for the public.

 

“Governor Otu-led Administration means business with the People-First Agenda. Hence, sovereignty and authority are derived from the people, and the essence of governance centres on the provision of social amenities, food sufficiency, and security of lives and property and especially with the equitable distribution of scarce resources in an opportunity cost order of alternative forgone.

“The present Administration is engaged in Road infrastructure, robust Agricultural revolution, improving the standard of education in the provisions of learning materials, infrastructure

and scholarship for deserving indigenous students, the unbiased distribution of the dividends of democracy nor does the government encourage sectional policies and partisanship. The “People-First Agenda,” is for all to benefit irrespective of party affiliations or geographical location. All that is required is to key in by all and sundry.”

 

Comrade Edem Darlington is the immediate past Chairman of the Association of Cross River Online Journalists (ACROJ).

 

The Online Journalists and Media Practitioners called on the government not to gag the media and should take cognisance of the place of digital journalism and extend a hand of fellowship to this section of the Fourth Estate of the Realm as they assured the office of the Deputy Chief Press Secretary of a collaborative relationship, to enhance democratic principles and good governance.

 

The meeting was attended by the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Andrea Ekeng, Nathaniel Otaba (SA) to the Governor on Communication, and Chief Executives and Publishers in the State across the Senatorial Districts.
