The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on Saturday expressed concern over the reoccurring security challenge in Nembe and a few other areas of the State advising that election is a game of ballot and not a bullet.
Ewhrudjakpo stated this in an interview with Pressmen shortly after casting his vote in his hometown Ofoni community in Sagbama Local Government Area of the State.
According to him, “We are concerned with what is happening in Nembe and a few other places, but we pray that the security agencies and all the other agencies involved should do the right thing so that people would not be disenfranchised. The election is a ballot affair and not a bullet affair, all of them have six letters but not the same weight” he stressed.
He therefore thanked the Governor, Sen. Douye Diri for the privilege of finding him worthy to be so chosen as his running mate, maintaining that it’s a privilege and not his right. He also thanked his people, Ofoni Community for their unflinching support and solidarity christening them as the Rock of Gibraltar.
The former lawmaker commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the Security Agencies, and other stakeholders while describing the turnout as massive.
