Peter Obi has reaffirmed his belief in Nigeria, while in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital to Flag-Off Barr. Okeme Adejoh and Alhaji Hamza Mohammed Baba are candidates for the Gubernatorial election in Kogi State under the Labour Party.

Obi, who urges Kogites to go and verify every piece of information about the Labour Party candidates says there was no basis for Kogi and Nigeria not to have been self-sufficient and built a new Nigeria over the years that is possible.

“I urge people to verify our information for themselves. While In Kogi State, I once again observed a people with great resources and potential that if harnessed, will bring great development to our nation and improve the lives of the good people of Kogi State.

“With a land mass of 29,833 km², bigger than the landmass of Israel at 22,145 km², more than twice the land mass of The Gambia at 11,300 km², and so on, Kogi should be a prosperous nation.

Kogi State is very fertile for the growing of cassava, yams, rice, etc., so the people should not be hungry.

“The Ajaokuta Steel Mill in Kogi, despite gulping billions in funding, has failed to commence full operations due to corruption and leadership failure. The Steel Mill has remained the biggest image of a failed leadership in our country and its effect on industrial development in our community is apparent.

“The story is not different for the Obajana Cement Plant in the state. With good and committed leadership, which we will offer in New Nigeria, we will harness the great potential for agriculture that abounds in the State and hence, move the nation from consumption to production.

“Our nation, as seen in Kogi State, has all it takes to build the New Nigeria and we know it is POssible,” he concluded.
