The International Organisations of United Nations (UN) Volunteers Tuesday presented to Nigerians the scorecard of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall in a press conference organised in honour of the agency.

This in effect is to create awareness as well as sensitize citizens to the activities of the agency, and its operational methodologies in the hope of engendering honesty and patriotism for all and sundry.

The event which was held at Top Rank Hotel, Area 11, Garki, Abuja drew dignitaries from Non-governmental Organisations,(NGOs), Civil Society Organisations,(CSOs) International partners, and highly placed individuals, and the press among others.

The Volunteers noted that though it holds in high esteem the legislative arm of the government in Nigeria and wouldn’t love to cast aspersion on them, it urged the hallowed chambers to be cautious in handling matters that pertain to the agency to avoid misrepresentation.

“Even as we hold in high esteem the legislative arm of the government of Nigeria and as well the citizens, and as well as we’ll never cast aspersion on their integrity nor join issues with their statutory duty of oversight functions, we want to, with all sense of patriotism urge them to apply more caution and decorum in handling matters to avoid misrepresentation which may bring to disrepute the hard-earned integrity of those who are their partners in progress”

It maintained that the agency under it leadership of the current management headed by the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Dr. Yusuf Maina Bukar the agency has been a worthy partner to all the United Volunteers and Civil Society community and has steadfastly put them on their toes to deliver on the mandate.

It posited that part of its engagement with the agency’s activities includes zonal intervention projects and all constituency projects of the National Assembly domiciled in NAGGW.

A cursory look at the Volunteer’s achievement and NAGGW under Dr Yusuf shows transparent leadership in line with the Act of the Agency working with the relevant authority, stakeholders, youths, CSOs and NGOs to realise the core mandate of the agency, accountability, human capital development (training and empowerment), job creation and employment generation, capital building and development.

The Volunteers commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for demonstrating the willingness to harken to the voice of NGOs and CSOs and by extension the voice of the people.
