The Commissioner for Crops and Irrigation Development, Hon. Johnson Ebokpo has undertaken an inspection tour of the Ministry to assess the state of facilities in the various departments.
Commissioner Ebokpo alongside the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ekpe Bassey, and the Directors visited the Departments of Agricultural Services, Fertilizers and Farm Inputs, Food and Nutrition, and the Loan and Credit Schemes.
They also visited the Ministry’s Library, Departments of Planning, Research and Statistics, and Tree Crops among others.
During the Tour, the Commissioner was intimated of the challenges affecting Staff in the discharge of their duties. The challenges included; dilapidated offices, inadequate water supply especially to the Ministry’s annex due to damaged water pipelines, and lack of convenience for Staff.
The Commissioner decried the poor working environment and encouraged Staff to be patient and not relent in discharging their duties while assuring that the challenges will be addressed within available resources.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Crops and Irrigation held a meeting with the Management Team of the Ministry where he tasked heads of departments to ensure punctuality and dedication to work by their various staff.
He appreciated the Team for the Cooperation so far and sought more collaborations to achieve his target of shifting the ministry from interventions to agribusinesses. Adding that, he is poised to restructure the Ministry for maximum productivity for the overall growth of the State.
The Crops and Irrigation Development Commissioner also reminded the Management Team of Governor Bassey Otu’s resolve to make the Sector more viable.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ekpe Bassey pledged Staff commitment to taking the Ministry to enviable heights.
