The HOR member representing OBANLIKU/OBUDU/BEKWARRA Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Akpanke, visited BESENGE 2 village in Obanliku Local Government Area to have first-hand information on the ongoing rumoured illegal mineral exploration.

Hon. Akpanke, used the opportunity to address key Stakeholders that included the Traditional Chiefs, Youths and Women Leader on the importance of involving government through relevant authorities. And what the people stand to gain through legal mineral exploration.

The MP also stated that legalized mining activities have a huge positive impact on host communities with considerable benefits to unemployed youths. Further, he advised members of the community to desist from welcoming illegal miners as it will only impede their chances of achieving the necessary development and desired government presence that’s enjoyed in similar places with mineral resources.
