Hon. Alvin OCHANG, has been appointed as Chairman of the Reconciliation and Peace Committee for the Labour Party (LP) Cross River State, and 12 others members that includes Prof. James Ikpoke, Prof. O’Neill Charles, RTD Brig. Gen. Enang Essien, Elder Dr. Mrs. Mkpanam and representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC). Hon. Ori Emanghe is to serve as Secretary.
Epistlenews sited the letter dated 3rd April, 2023 and signed by the National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Barr. Julius Abure and the National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim.
The Committee amongst other things is saddled with responsibilities of:
1. To meet with aggrieved members of the Party in the State.
2. Listen to their complaints and device a way of resolving such complaints that have bedeviled the Party in the State and proffer solutions in line with the Party Constitution and
3. Make far reaching Recommendations to the National Headquarters with a view of a final resolution.
Labour Party (LP) in Cross River has been factionalised and the State Chairman, Amb. Ogar Osim, suspended as a result of alleged financial misappropriation by a faction of the State EXCO and the appointment of an Acting State Chairman in the person of Comrade Dr. Lekam Ofem, the State Publicity Secretary in his stead.
