Mr. Alvin OCHANG, the Labour Party candidate for the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency at the February 25, 2023, General Election, has extended his congratulations to the Governor-Elect, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
In a personal congratulatory message signed by Mr. Alvin and sighted by Epistlenews, he expressed his felicitations to Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, and to Cross Riverians for their overwhelming declaration of support as seen in the election.
“I should expressed my profound congratulations to the Governor-Elect, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and to Cross Riverians for the overwhelming support and record breaking victory devoid of sentiments and senatorial bias.
“Your victory is testimonial to the fact that Cross Riverians are sophisticated and enlightened people; who are just and firmed in their resolved to champion unity of purpose for a peaceful coexistence in brotherhood and love.
“Your victory at the polls is a manifestation of your acceptance by the generality of the people of Cross River State and a clarion call that you must deliver on your promises. Hence, you’re looked upon as the answer to the myriad of our problems and as the preferred people’s choice.”
He advised politicians to be open minded and see elections as a contest that a winner must emerge and not a do or die thing.
“As politicians, we should go into elections with two variables of either of winning or loosing in a fair and unbiased contest with the conviction that God, still rules in the affairs of men.
Mr. Alvin, praised the magnanimity and extension of hand of fellowship to losers as show of statesmanship.
“And worthy of note is your ‘Acceptance Speech’ all encompassing, extending hand fellowship to others and promised to be fair in your dealings to all Cross Riverians irrespective of their party lineage and affiliations. This singular move has endeared you again to the heart of many and myself once again; this is leadership and shows that you’re ready to serve the people.”
“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate other candidates who contested the Gubernatorial election and brought robust competition, to understand that, there’s a season and time to each and everyone under the sun; and God, chooses whom to anoint at a given time, and taking advantage of the hand of fellowship extended by the Governor-elect to contribute their quota to advance Cross River State for all.
He concluded with the promise to support the Prince Otu’s administration alongside his associates and teeming supporters across the State.
“And on behalf of my family, associates and my teeming supporters across the state; I once again congratulate the Governor-Elect and pledged my unalloyed support, as you accept the assurances of my highest regards,” he said.
