A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday delivered judgment in favour of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
In the Originating summons in Suit NO: FHC/ABJ/CS/2331/2022, the Applicant (PRP) sorted among other things the inclusion of all the candidates wrongfully excluded from the list of candidates published by the Respondent (INEC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The lead Counsel, Barr Akpama Ekwe Akpama contends that the Applicant duly conducted yet another primary election for the replacement of candidates who willfully withdrew their candidature in line with the Electoral Act (2022) and by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Part of the Originating Summons read as thus: “Let the Independent National Electoral Commission within thirty (30) days after service of this summons on them inclusive of the day of such service cause an appearance to be entered for them to this summons which is issued upon the application of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) who addresses within the jurisdiction is”…
Accordingly, INEC, given the judgment is mandated to include and make public Ntufam Ebuta Simon Akor, senatorial Candidate for Cross River Central, Mr Eban Larry Emmanuel, Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency and Mr Effiong Emmanuel Tembu, Biase/Akamkpa Federal Constituency as replaced candidates for the election slated for February 25, 2023.
