The Calabar edition of the campaign ” I Pledge to vote ” is set to hold on the 30th of September at the Channel View Hotel, in the Cross River State capital.

The event which is a one day forum to educate young Nigerian Voters on critical aspects of their rights is being organized by “Run to Win” a Non governmental organization created to foster youth engagement in politics.

Speaking to Newsmen in calabar Ibukun Tunbi Programs Manager of “Run To Win” , stated that “There have been these engagements in other states of the country and the results have been amazing. ”

“In Nasarawa, there was an edition held and the number of youth coming out to participate and register to vote was impressive. Voter education is important and as we move towards the upcoming election more voters need to be enlightened about their important role in this process. It is this kind of turn out and engagement that we witnessed in Nasarawa that we want to bring to the young people of Cross River State. We want to see a large turn of voters picking up their PVCs and commiting to cast their votes in 2023,” Ibukun quipped.

She outlined activities of the day to include;

Speeches from the state chairmen of the APC and PDP

Keynote speech from Senatorial Candidate, Asuquo Ekpenyong

Panel sessions with youths and women actively participating in different levels of the political process analyzing the issues around representation at the polls.
