The National Secretary General of the Diabetes Association of Nigeria, Comrade Bernard Enyia, on behalf of the Association, has confered on Queen Victoria Odono (QueenVee) with the prestigious International Diabetes Federation Blue Circle insignia as Diabetes Ambassador.

The Ceremony which took place at the Marian Hotel, Calabar, was part of a partnership deal with the Association to increase awareness in Diabetes prevention and control in Nigeria.
QueenVee, who is a native of Atai Nto-Obo Village in Etim-Ekpo LGA of Akwa-ibom State, is the current Miss Carnival Queen Africa 2021-2022.
She is also an Ambassador for Focus Africa and the President of Women Civil Groups For Nation Building.
The Blue Circle Award is in recognition of her interest in promoting Diabetes awareness and Advocacy in Nigeria.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Madonna University, Okija, Nigeria.
Her determination is to touch the lives of the less privileged and put a smiles on their faces.
As an entrepreneur who specialises in Fashion, Designing and Interior Decorations, she intend to train over a hundred young people in fashion, design and decorations while mainstreaming Diabetes education among the beneficiaries to encourage positive health seeking behaviors.
Diabetes is a silent killer which is assuming alarming proportions, and in recently times with a prevalence rate of 7% in Nigeria. HENCE, she is calling on every citizens to take Diabetes issues seriously by seeking to know how to identify warning signs and other risk factors that predisposed people to Diabetes mellitus and it’s attendant complications.
