The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, has issued Evangelist Hon. (Chief) Augustine Ekeng, his Certificate of return for the Odukpani State Constituency at the Party Secretariat, on Mary Slessor Roundabout, Calabar.

 

In his parley with few selected Journalists after receiving his certificate, Hon. Ekeng said, “I want to dedicate this day to God Almighty, who directs the course of men, to my family for being there and to the good people of Odukpani, for their resolved in faith and trust to believe in me to represent them at the Cross River State House of Assembly, come 2023.

 

“I wouldn’t say, I was the best amongst all, but as a Christian and as an Evangelist, all things happened to them that believed for a purpose and there’s a time for everything under the sun. Which I can only say, mine has come to the glory of God.”

 

When asked, what he indeed to bring onboard and what he will do differently he said, “I will bring sincere leadership, devoid of factionalising our people, engaged in genuine reconciliation to foster unity and brotherhood in Odukpani. Hence, we’re one people with the same destiny under God.

“We need peace and security and this I will vigorously pursue to the logical conclusion and make sure that my people get the necessary and same treatment accruing to warring Communities as it affects others in the same situations.

“I should assure the people that, I will bring development, in human, natural and infrastructural wise and support other stakeholders who are ready to champion a new order, a departure from the past, for I see a new dawn in Odukpani.

 

“The beauty of my emergence is that I am a home boy through and thorough and have been with us from time immemorial and know exactly what we need and want.”

 

On the making of laws; “I will sponsor and support bills that will impact on the lives of the people of Odukpani, that will bring about the required and real change as a fulcrum to kick start and enhance productivity in Agro-Allied, Commerce and Education sector of our lives. I will always meet with the people in Town Hall Meetings to brainstorm and to know exactly what my people want.

 

“I will join other well-meaning colleagues in the Assembly to take very seriously our constitutional responsibility of oversight function to bring about development in the State, as a check and balance measure for accountability and transparency, a panacea for good governance.

 

“Let me use this opportunity to thank my brothers who contested with me and extend my profound respect and to let them know that we are all winners and will all benefit from my representation. It’s only in unity, that we’ll conquer and win the 2023 Elections and as such, will need all and sundry to defeat those masquerading themselves as our leaders with stolen mandate of our people. Enough, is Enough!

 

“And finally, let me reassure our people that Daniel, has come to judgement for the purpose of justice, equity and fairness for I need your total support and votes to win for us; equality and uncommon leadership that we may not have experienced in Odukpani, servant leadership.

 

“Let me assure the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that the faith reposed on me, will not be taken for granted; it’s a partnership that will bring about the ideology and manifesto of our great Party, the PDP. God will surely direct our part and ways,” he concluded.
