Politics is not a game but serious business about governance and Cross River State is not left out in the scheme as we match into 2023 General Elections. The positive dimension about Cross River State politics has been the judicious allocations of elective positions through zoning across the Senatorial Districts and especially as it concerns the governorship, that has been rotational, until the entrance of Prof Sandy Onor, who maybe out of ignorance or over ambition is wanting a distortion, insulting our collective resolved as a people for peace and brotherhood and living in utopia that one friend of his will decide the fate and direction of our conscience as a people. Are Cross Riverians ready to sell and mortgage her future? Its emphatically NO!
The self-acclaimed “emperor and political juggernaut” is coming to terms with the results of the primaries of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) across the State and worse still the Central Senatorial Districts, were he currently serve as Senator and his emergence in 2019, was as a result of zoning and consensus.
The last of his lies is attempt to woe some gullible party faithful’s from the Northern Senatorial District with a purported disqualification of Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the consensus candidate that has since been cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Appeal Screening Committee.
This is because that, the PDP members saddled with the responsible of voting those to fly the party flag across are weary of the danger he poses to the party and the State, to alter existing arrangements to his selfish agenda. This still wouldn’t work because, he has been taught the hard lesson from the party primaries across the Senatorial Districts. The question is; who will go to war with a general that has no base, followership and conviction? The truth of the matter is; Prince Bassey Otu, has been cleared and his claim that Chief Chris Agara, will be giving the ticket and he in turn will defeat the latter is a fiasco.
It is not only insulting and laughable that the permutation of Prof. Sandy Onor, is revolving on the All Progressives Congress (APC) choice, rather than his “super invisibility” and that politics is not local but international, while responding to a Journalist on January 1st, 2022 in Calabar, at the NUJ Centre.
The arrogance and aggregation of might and wit by Sandy Onor, is his undoing and as the say; pride goes before fall. Things have fallen apart and the centre can no longer holds for the pretender, trying to usurp powers that aren’t his!
As a Central Senatorial District party member of the PDP, I want to call but not appealing to my brother, Prof Sandy Onor, to save face and throw in the towel and allow for the Southern Senatorial District, whose turn it is to present and produce the Governorship candidate to beat the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer come 2023 General Elections.
The deciding factor and the last stroke that breaks the camel’s back are the results from Central Senatorial District with the emergency of Rt. Hon. Bassey Eko Ewa, as Senatorial Candidate of the PDP. The Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency with Attah Ochinke, Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency with Eko Atu, and Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency with Comrade Steven George. Do you need a sow-sawyer to tell you that, the dreams and ambition of Prof Sandy Onor, has been shattered and come to an abrupt end? Hope is not lost to saving his face by simply congratulating Senator Gershom Bassey, for teaching him the bitter lesson of party politics and like the Party State Chairman, Vena Ikem Esq. stated in his response at the party secretariat in January, 2022, that Gershom Bassey, has shown over time, his dexterity in winning elections, even when all hopes will seem to have been lost, and that, he wouldn’t be surprised at another victory.
Let me not bore us with the results from the Southern Senatorial District.
Senator Gershom Henry Bassey, is the DEAL, CODE and PDP Candidate to beat and Cross River, next Governor, come 2023.
He Will Be Magnanimous in Victory as Always!
