C’RIVER STRENGTHENS COMMITMENT TO WOMEN EMANCIPATION AS GADA PAYS ADVOCACY VISIT TO MIDC COMMISSIONER.

Delegates under the aegis of Gender And Development Action (GADA) of the United Nations Sexual and Reproductive Health Agency (UNFPA) spotlight initiative has paid an advocacy visit to the Cross River State Commissioner for International Development Cooperation (MIDC), Dr Inyang Asibong in continuation of their quest to explore areas for the effective utilization of the program.

 

Speaking about the visit, coordinator of the action project, Mrs Akon Bassey intimated that GADA is the lead implementer of Civil Society Organizations for the UNFPA in the State for the Spotlight Initiative, noting that the project is a non-governmental and non-profit organization committed to gender equality and gender equity in pursuit of sustainable development and social justice in the country.

 

Mrs Bassey concluded by informing the conference of the winding down of the project cycle and the efforts in exploring areas for sustainability of the project and its achievements in partnership with the state government.

 

In her address, the MIDC Commissioner acknowledged the organization’s dedication to work towards the girl child and women emancipation in the State, pledging the Ministry’s involvement to the sustainability of the spotlight initiative in the state.

 

Dr Asibong added that His Excellency Governor Ben Ayade has emboldened his resolve to ensure that children learn in a safe and secure environment free of all forms of violence, as can be seen in the massive reduction of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child trafficking other forms of social vices targeted towards women and children in the State.

 

Commissioner Asibong said the state government will not rest on her oars until the basic requests and challenges are addressed.
