Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong has pledged her commitment towards reaching out and meeting the needs of children especially the less privileged in order for them to achieve their full potentials in life.
Dr Ekpenyong was speaking during the recently celebrated “International Day for Street Children” on Tuesday, April 12th 2022 in Calabar as tens of children gathered to receive some welfare packages as well as shared knowledge on ways of bettering their lives .
Dr Ekpenyong who was represented by the Director of Community and Family Health Services , Mrs Sally Enyim assured the children of collective efforts of government at all levels to provide social security including free healthcare for them as well as prioritize them on all Government planned health activities.
She further admonished them to remain humble and be of good behavior at all times not withstanding their present conditions as she educated them on the dangers of indulging in evil vices which according to her could untimely bring an end to their lives.
Highlights of the day was the distribution of social welfare packages to the children, participation of the kids in a football game as well.
The visibly excited children thanked the DG and all the organizers for the love and humility shown as they recounted previous visits which brought joy and happiness to their lives.
It will be recalled that since the appointment of the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong in 2019 , the young , energetic and people oriented Leader has practically shown her love to the “societally rejected kids” by always providing them with some welfare packages.
