One of the ardent supporters of Governor Yahaya Bello for President and a member of a support group tagged Edo In-laws Support Group, Dr. Abubakar Abbas on Saturday called on Nigerians irrespective of ethnic,religious and tribal affiliations to support the ambition of the Kogi State Governor,Alhaji Yahaya Bello for president to enable him bring to bear his economic,social and political blueprint that will transform the country in no distant time.
Alhaji Abbas who stated this in an interview with journalists at the Eagle Square, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja during the official declaration of Bello for president, maintained that the Kogi State governor has done a lot in the State that will be seen as a yardstick to be given the chance to become the number one citizen of the country.
“You see, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello has done a lot in Kogi State to be taken seriously for the number one citizen of the country, take for instance the issue of insecurity, Kogi State is one of the safest, very peaceful and secured,no incidence of kidnapping,armed robbery,bandits or terrorist attacks as it is been witnessed in other States or places. Look at the development in terms of infrastructure, he has done a lot’
“He is a gender friendly governor,in fact he is one of the governors that have female representation in all the council areas in the federation,even his State Executive Council you find a lot of women, that’s why you see a sea of women here today’
“Also,you know Nigeria is a difficult country to lead,that’s why we need his strength as a youth so that he can be able to function effectively and efficiently ”
Speaking on the issue of zoning in the party,Dr Abubaka posited that there is no position of zoning in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that every Nigerian have his or her constitutional rights to contest any position,averring that zoning was a party decision and any party member may agree or disagree on it.
“Zoning is not an issue as far as I’m concern because it is not in our constitution, it was just an agreement by some party members and if one of them says he doesn’t like it,so be it. So I don’t see the issue of zoning affecting our leader in any way”
“Look at the mammoth crowd that came from all parts of the country to honour and listen to our leader declare his intention today,that shows that he is the true leader and a man of the moment”
Abbas therefore use the occasion to call on Nigerians particularly the youths to come out en masse and support the ambition of Bello for a peaceful,prosperous and more stable Nigeria.
