ACROJ PRESS RELEASE: SECURITY ALERT!
On Saturday, February 26, 2022, Cross Riverians in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency and Akpabuyo State Constituency will be going to the polls to cast their votes for the candidates of their choice.
We, the Association of Cross River Online Journalists, ACROJ have dispatched INEC accredited crack investigative journalists to the field who will be on the lookout to expose all electoral malpractices by enemies of our young democracy and the electoral process.
While we commend INEC for the level of preparation so far, we however want to call on them to tighten every loose end moving forward into the election proper.
We call on the security agencies in the State to form strong collaboration to fish out hoodlums who have been recruited by politicians to disrupt the elections.
Information at our disposal has it that some politicians in the State have already recruited some ex-militant leaders and their boys to frustrate the electoral process and rig the election in favor of their political party. Prominent among them is a former lawmaker who served at the upper House of the National Assembly. This person is working closely with some politicians in the State whose identities are very much available to us.
We call on security agents to be on red alert and ensure that Cross Riverians go out on Saturday to cast their votes for the candidates of their choice without any form of intimidation.
Our votes must count, we must protect our democracy.
