SOULTIDE.
As a Party faithful and one determined to support they party’s quest for victory in the 26th February, Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency By-Election and others in 2023.
I am constraint to say the obvious. Hence, any house divided against itself, is doom to fail.
The PDP 3rd February, Primaries in Ogoja has just shown how divided the Party has become and the inability of the Leaders in the Northern Senatorial District to manage goodwill, time essence and harmonize friendship not giving room for speculations and allowing a level playing ground for all.
If, consultations is not deployed and soonest, I will not be surprised to see a gradual annihilation of the Party in the North through defection to the APC as an expression of disappointment, not because of loosing a Primaries but because of complesancy on the part of the leadership of the PDP in the Northern Senatorial District.
Consequently, I will proffer that in the coming weeks, the possibility of the Adoption of Consensus should be looked into very holistically, for the purpose of tranquility, unity, equity and peace.
It is the majority views of the Ogoja/Yala Party faithfuls that, an unpopular candidate in Hon. Mike Osibe, was foists on the people as against their wish of Barr. Godwin Offino, and therefore reechoing the call for Direct Primaries, where the people will have their say and way to voting candidates of choice and not those who’ll emerge from clandestine processes.
This has come to play with the dismay and disdained of the aides of the “unconquered,” leader by his close associates and friends for the dishonourable part he played, before, during and after the PDP Primaries that has left a bad taste in the mouth.
Hope isn’t lost and time is of essence to reconcile the candidates before the coming weeks preceding the By-Election to assuage the acrimony caused by the biasness of not only the said leader but some of the State Party Executives as well.
To win the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency By-Election on 26 February, the Leaders of the Party in the State, must swing into action and don’t only assume that those in the Northern Senatorial District have all it takes to win the By-Election and coming on the background of disaffection from the Primaries.
