C’RIVER GOVT TO PARTNER ACHIEVING HEALTH NIGERIA INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE COVID-19 VACCINE IN THE STATE.

The Cross River State Government have reached advanced stage in the partnership with “Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative” For maximum , effective and equitable distribution of Covid-19 Vaccines, sensitization and vaccination.
The collaboration which was reached during a courtesy visit by a team  of the giant health initiative to the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong in her office was part of modalities to improve uptake of the vaccine especially amongst key population as the state work towards achieving herd immunity.
Speaking during the team’s visit, the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong thanked the team for the visit noting that, such partnership with the state will enhance and promote vaccine literacy across the state.
The DG further informed the team that the government of Senator Professor Ben Ayade is committed to ensuring equal access to the vaccine by all.
She said, the state will continue to push forward until all eligible adults are vaccinated while also keeping the state disease and pandemic free with much emphasis on sensitization and awareness creation.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the team, Dr Kenneth appreciated the commitment of the state government and it’s transparency since the Commencement of the Covid-19 Vaccination exercise in 2021.
He said, the state has remained a leading light among other states of the federation as it has defilled all challenges including topography, illiteracy , social and cultural limitations to vaccinate the over 300,000 eligible adults.
He therefore called for the expansion of the exercise to accommodate more sites particularly facilities supported by the Initiative and also patronized by key population to serve as hub for the vaccination.  As this will also breach the existing gaps in terms of uptake of the vaccine.
Also speaking, Dr Friday Obia commended the Director General and the entire health team for the great work they have done so far in the ongoing Vaccination exercise.  He also highlighted their areas of support which will be centered around training of health workers especially in  the new soon to be activated sites, awareness creation and other support which will be based on identified gaps.
So far, over 300,000 Cross Riverians and residents have been vaccinated for both the first, second and booster jab  with Astrazeneca, moderna and Pfizer vaccines respectively with a huge chunk of the state population expected to receive theirs in the coming months.
Also present at the meeting was the Director,  Community and Family Health,  Mrs Sally Enyim.
