The Senator representing  Cross River South senatorial district Senator Gershom Bassey, has donated brand new mini buses to all the chapter Chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party across the 7 local government areas in the senatorial district.
Senator Gershom who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on FERMA, said the donation was a way of giving back to his constituents for believing and sustaining the party in their various chapters despite the current political drama in the state.
” I want to urge you all to remain faithful to our dear party, as the party is committed to deliver the dividends of democracy to you all. I commend you for your steadfastness towards the party so far. Do not be worried over the ongoing media/ audio defection in the state, Cross River remains a PDP state.”
” I will continue to serve the people to justify the mandate given to me to represent you in the Senate. I urge all of you   to make good use of the vehicles for the upliftment of your lives and those of their family members.”
The federal lawmaker also appealed to those who missed out on the grants and loans programme to exercise patience, “most of you benefited from the ongoing grants and loans empowerment, but for those who missed out I’m appealing that you exercise patience as you will benefit from subsequent programmes. Carry everyone along especially the vulnerable in your domains as I  may not be able to reach them, but through you and other stakeholders, they will also be empowered.”
Expressing gratitude to the lawmaker on behalf of the beneficiaries, the chapter chairman of Calabar south Hon Felix Offiong, thanked Senator Gershom Bassey for the mini buses, adding that the lawmaker has demonstrated true leadership with his kind gestures through various empowerment programs and schemes, road maintenance and developmental projects.
Hon Felix Offiong who admitted that the people are overwhelmed by the various vehicle empowerments from tricycles, mini buses and also coaster buses, assured that they are making good use of them.
