Dr. Godwin Maduka, a gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)for the November sixth (6) governorship election in Anambra State on Thursday reaffirmed his commitment to deliver on the needed infrastructure, security and good governance to the Anamrarians if election governor.
The prospective governor stated this in an interview with pressmen in his campaign office prior to the Saturday twenty sixth of November 2021 PDP Governorship primaries in the State.
In an emotional speech,Dr Maduka lamented that though as a poor boy that grew up in the squalor, his childhood was still better off than today’s children.
According to him, “the person that sells banana and groundnut in urban area today is better than what I was as a child growing up,because where we are and where we was is two different things. I want people to know that there’s no gimmick about it as a child, i grew up fetching water and eating roasted yam given to us by our Mum, but i was determine to make a change that’s why I went to the United States of America and make an impact in the medical field”
“The fact of the matter is that as a poor boy that escaped poverty and went to the US I came back after forty years and met hardship worst that when I left,at least people were not dying of hunger, people like Nnamdi Azikiwe,Sam Mbakwe,Obafemi Awolowo,Odumegwu Ojukwu, Abubaka Tafawa Balewa, Peter Obi are humanitarians. I was born before the Nigerian Civil War and I saw hell, some people died of Kwashiorkor and others of preventable diseases but I survived, went abroad and made a name for myself,so with this experience I want to serve my people and give them a better living”
Speaking further, Dr Maduka maintained that his coming to serve the people of Anambra and indeed Nigeria is to better the lot of his people and to erase the misconception that White people and greater than Black people.
Also, the prospective governor stated that his mission is to harness the human potentials and build institutions that will endure time, noting that there’s no time to waste.
He therefore urged the people of Anambra to shun violence, politics of hatred and division, hence join hands with him to move the State forward.
