The Attorney General and  Commissioner for Justice, Cross River State, Mr Tanko Ashang, has received an award of honour from the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), University of Calabar.

The award which is in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of LAWSAN UNICAL was presented at the Ministry of Justice, Calabar.

While presenting the award, the President LAWSAN UNICAL, Etaba Agbor said the award was to express gratitude to the Ministry and the Commissioner for Justice for partnering with the association on the Law Students Internship programme.

Agbor said as a result of this partnership, ten students have benefitted from the internship programme.

In his words, “We were able to send 10 students to the Ministry of Justice who were exposed to the rudiments of court room practice and other proceedings.  We have been able to pull off the internship programme for Law Students as a result of the cooperation and support from the Honourable Attorney General and the Ministry of Justice.”

Responding, the Commissioner for Justice, Mr Tanko
Ashang, expressed gratitude to the association for the kind gesture which he said would not have been possible without Governor Ben Ayade finding him worthy to serve in that capacity.

While commending them on their appearance, Mr Ashang said, “The Law profession is very conservative; there is no room for rascality.” He further advised students to take the profession seriously and work hard at all times.
