CRS-NEWMAP BAGS WORLD BANK CERTIFICATION FOR PROJECT EXECUTION AND EXPERT DELIVERY.
…as the project hands over Environmental Sanitation Implements to Obudu Urban Development Authority…
The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) has applauded the Cross River State Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, and his team for its expert level of project execution in the State and recommended the State for immediate certification. This was made known following the successful Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Impact Mitigation Monitoring (IMM) exercise for 11 gully erosion sites in the State by delegates from the Federal Ministry of Environment.
According to the Director NEWMAP, Mrs. Theresa Adeboye, the EIA monitoring and evaluation is an exercise that precedes the certification of any development project, and the survey report has shown that Cross River State is perfectly aligned with the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and the project execution has been exceptional, thus earning them the certification.
The Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Inyang Asibong, hinted that the State is revered for its knack for excellence and setting the bar through its commitment to deliver projects with global-best practices and the World Bank specifications. She assured that the State has put modalities in place to ensure all the NEWMAP projects meet the required specifications per time.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Cross River State Governor on NEWMAP, *Mr. Francis Agaba*, also expressed satisfaction at the expertly executed projects across the State whilst the delegates made their trip to all the NEWMAP sites in the State.
The beneficiaries took turns to appreciate the State Government and the project for the timely intervention especially as the rainy season is at its early stages.
The delegates visited NEWMAP sites across the State and aired their satisfaction at the tremendous improvement from what the situation used to be and what is obtainable now.
In the same vein, the CRS-NEWMAP office has supported the Obudu Urban Development Authority (OUDA) with Environmental hygiene tools to aid in erosion mitigation activities in the area.
Items were recieved by Mrs. Adie, the Executive Secretary of OUDA.
